Assign technicians and record their working time
EnglishUpdated Sep 13, 2026
Technician time helps the workshop understand progress and labour use. Each technician needs an employee profile linked to their staff account and must be assigned to the work.
Assign a technician
An authorised advisor or manager can use Assign Technician on a job order. This action assigns the selected person across its tasks and service packages. Confirm the intended scope before using it on a job shared by several technicians.
Work as a technician
- Open My Work → My Tasks, or the Assigned Tasks area of My Dashboard.
- Find the correct job and task or package. Check the vehicle and work description before starting.
- Select Start Timer when you begin working.
- Use Stop Timer when you pause or move away from that work.
- Resume when appropriate, then use Finish Task when the task is actually complete.
- Open Time Log to review recorded sessions.
Only one task or package timer can run for a technician at a time. Starting another while one is running produces a message identifying the existing work. Stop or finish that work before starting the next timer.
Understand performance figures
Utilisation compares clocked time with available working time. Productivity compares billed time with available time. Efficiency compares the work's flat-rate time with clocked time. Check the date range and employee working-time settings before comparing figures.
These figures answer different questions. A missing figure or restricted report is not a zero performance result.
What happens next
Finished tasks contribute to job progress. A manager still needs to inspect the completed work and approve it before the normal billing step. Removing a technician assignment keeps their past time records.
Troubleshooting
- No technician profile found: ask an administrator to check the employee/user link.
- You are not assigned: ask the advisor to assign the correct task or package.
- Already invoiced and locked: additional time cannot be started against that billed job.
- Incorrect recorded hours should be reviewed by an authorised manager; do not manufacture timer sessions to compensate.
